Ladera Ranch Community Services (LARCS), in conjunction with The Baldwin Group, is hosting a workshop to help teens find summer employment.  The "Getting Ready for That Summer Job” Workshop will be on June 8 at the Oak Knoll club house from 6:30PM to 8:30PM.  

In the workshop, teens will learn how to write accomplishment-driven resumes that focus on their preferred skills.  They'll also learn how to put together a comprehensive job search campaign, hone interviewing skills and get feedback from professional career coach, Jan Slater. 

Jan Slater has been a career coach for 30 years and has recently moved from working with clients in mid-life to working with young adults.  "They're fearless, said Slater, "and they haven't been beaten up in life."  

Slater says that in today's job market, teens may often be competing with adults.  Slater says that the differences for a teen will be in the way they present themselves.  "Some kids are not very good at talking to adults," says Slater.  "All they really need to have is two or three sentences that communicate that they are confident, friendly and passionate."
