On September 1, 2005, Jeff Nielsen posted the following comments on LaderaLife in response to the Katrina Hurricane disaster:

"Might we in Ladera consider taking in some who we (myself included) can share responsibility for taking care of for a few months?"

Some suggested that this was an attempt at reputation repair for a man who was arrested and charged in 2003 on sex charges related to a 14-year-old Westminster boy. Charges were added in April when authorities discovered over 400 child porn images at Nielsen's Ladera Ranch home.

The OC Weekly is reporting in last week's edition (Vol. 11, No.4 - Sept. 30 - Oct. 6, 2005) that Nielsen was in Orange County Central Court (just days after his post on LaderaLife) after mounting the necessary legal wrangling to delay the start of his trial for some 28 months and still running.

Some have hypothesized that the legal tactics are designed to delay long enough so that a Jury doesn't see a 14-year-old child sitting on the witness stand, but in all likelihood, an 18-year-old man.

Jeffrey Ray Nielsen was busy helping out at the Ladera Ranch Realty Katrina Donation Day on September 3rd while his defense was preparing for his next pre-trial hearing on September 6th.
